"I will touch you in your waking dreams, when you walk this valley, the meadows and pastures, these hills. You will walk in the footsteps of those who have gone before you. Follow the footsteps. They will lead you towards memories. And memories will tell you who you are. They are us. They are me. They are you."
In September 2000, the fourteen children of Joseph Welsh and Marian Amyotte
gathered in Regina to celebrate the memory of our mother, Marian on the fifteenth
anniversary of her death. Many of Joseph and Marian's grandchildren, great
grandchildren and great great grandchildren also attended.
Joseph Welsh and Marian Amyotte were married in 1925 at Sacred Heart Church
in Lebret Saskatchewan. They had fifteen children. Marie the seventh child,
died when she was three years of age. We, the surviving fourteen, are now
all over the age of fifty. Most of us are grandparents now, some of us are
great grandparents.
For the fourteen of us; Mickey, Frank, Ernie, Billy, Norma, Pauline, Madeline,
Paul, Ronnie, Danny, Joey, Jerry, Cec and Kathy. We want to get to meet each
others children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
For those of us who are not grandparents yet, we want to meet all our nieces
and nephews, our great nieces and our great nephews. We want you all to meet
and to know each other.
Prior to the gathering in September 2000 the idea of holding a family reunion
had been talked about, hoped for and dreamt about. It is time to make these
hopes and dreams a reality. Lets all take advantage of this opportunity and
come together at one place, Echo Lake Camp, August 12th to 18th 2002.
